Island Batik Ambassadors Four Seasons Blog Hop - Pumpkin Patch

Welcome to the Island Batik Ambassadors Four Seasons Blog Hop!  Today I get to share the amazing Pumpkin Patch Fabrics with you!  In looking at these gorgeous fall fabrics I received I decided that the best choice was to make a squirrel quilt!  They always remind me of fall picking up acorns and running around all over the place.  My husband loves squirrels, so I got started.

Aren't the fabrics in this collection lovely!?

I knew I wanted to make nine squirrel blocks with two colors each.  I laid out the squares from my precut bundle and arranged the fabrics until I was happy.

I then layered my quilt and someone cute in my house wanted to show it off after I'd layered it with some amazing Hobbs batting.

To quilt this quilt, I used a 12-weight rayon thread that was fall colors from Wonderfil and a 50 weight Aurifil in the bobbin.  It took a little tweaking with the tension, but I love the way it looks.  I did a simple stipple all over the quilt so the squirrels stand out like the stars of the show.

Here's the finished quilt...and my husband asked me to hang it up!  That never happens!

Be sure to check out the other amazing blocks on the Four Seasons Blog Hop!

  5. I love to watch our squirrels. Although we live in the mountains, we really don't have many squirrels, so they aren't a problem at my house. Your quilt turned out adorable. Thanks for sharing. grinnie1961 at gmail dot com

  11. Squirrels are special around here, too. My husband has always used them in his "moral" stores for the kids and grands! I even made Christmas squirrel ornaments for the grands in 2017. This is a perfect little squirrel quilt with a gorgeous collection from Island Batiks.

  25. Your squirrel quilt is lovely and it's wonderful that your husband wanted to hang it on the wall. However, I must tell you I am not a big fan of squirrels since they built a nest in my car and I had to replace the radiator and get the air filter cleaned out (quite expensive).

  26. You have a very cute quilt holder holding your really cute quilt. Super Bowl Sunday...who knew I'd be excited for it? Seeing that the Eagles new quarterback, Carson Wentz, hails from my hometown and Alma Mater. Too bad he was injured and now sitting on the sidelines.

  31. Oh what fun this quilt is. I have always enjoyed watching the squirrels scurrying around in the fall and stashing the walnuts off our trees. This one would be great to remind me of them all winter too!

  36. Your quilt is adorable! We used to call our dog "squirrel girl" because the squirrels drove her crazy! When we visited Atlanta, they would climb up the walls outside of the apartment where we were staying and stare at her through the window. She would turn to me with an expression that seemed to say, "Are you seeing this??!! Can this be real? Do something about it!" We didn't have anything like those big bold squirrels in California. I might have to make a squirrel mini quilt to hold on to that happy memory.
